September Favourites
Throughout September, I had quite a few new
items that benefited me and some that have always been my favourite, I wanted
to share some with you all so you may try them, I definitely recommend the
candles & the books I read! Most of these
products are complete bargains, and are very affordable. I couldn’t have been
any luckier with the prices of some of these items.
Skincare
Products
One favourite of mine and one I have always
loved are the Simple Face Wipes! I suffer with VERY sensitive skin, any
fragranced soap or wipe coming into contact with my skin would cause it to
become very sore. I haven’t found out what exact chemical gives me a reaction
so I have to settle for wipes that were recommended and these were, I knew due
to them being from a well known range they would potentially be expensive but
needs must and I had to deal with it, I wasn’t too mad on them when I first
began using them, they seemed to run out too soon however, even though they’d
be gone, my skin was in much better condition, it was smooth, soft, and
absolutely no rawness . I couldn’t have been happier with them in the end, and
now they are part of my morning and nightly skin routine.
Due to recently moving, I’m was putting a lot
of stress on myself and it was a big problem causing spots to begin to appear,
luckily I was never one to suffer from spots on my skin and I didn’t want them
to start now. In our local shopping centre a new store opened, it was called
Boyes and it was known as a discount store, everything was affordable and
reasonably priced. I scanned the skincare aisle and came across a Detox
Cleanser face wash. It was only £1 so I decided to give it a go. It’s nothing
too major, or too demanding, it doesn’t even take 5 minutes, a little bit in
the morning and a little bit at night, a simple wash that leaves your skin
smelling lovely and feeling completely refreshed. Along with this I also
purchased the facial scrub, with micro ground apricot seeds to exfoliate the
skin whilst the small amount of charcoal absorbs the impurities which also
leaves your skin feeling fresher and healthier, you’re left with smooth skin
that is hard not to touch. I couldn’t be happier with these purchases, cheap
and cheerful, completely long lasting as you don’t need large amounts. My skin
looks clear and smooth and also feels that way too. I will definitely be buying
these again.
Candles
Candles are definitely my favourite thing about
this time of year, it gets dark a little earlier so we need to create light, my
family are stress heads when it comes to turning the lights on too early in the
day so obviously, the alternative source of light is a good candle. I was
recently walking around Home Bargains, because I love a good bargain and came
across the Iced Vanilla Bean by Wickford & Co candle, to me, it looked like
a cheaper alternative to a Yankee candle. I opened the lid to the candle and
smelt it and all of a sudden I just felt so close to my Nan. Her jewellery box
has a distinctive scent, it’s hard to describe it but the closest thing to it
is vanilla. I had to get this candle as for £2.99 you can’t go wrong. It burns
for up to 95 hours and it leaves your room smelling lovely for just as long,
not everyone likes the smell of vanilla so there are others, Mulled Wine,
Berries, Coffee...if you get the chance, definitely pop into a home bargains
and plant your nose in one.
As it is starting to get darker a little
earlier and the weather isn’t all that great, I think it is time to start
burning my favourite candle again, I received a Sweet Berry and Patchouli
scented candle and it has completely changed my life, it is simply gorgeous. I
only light it for short amounts of time as it is only small, it burns for up to
30 hours however so you do get a good time length on it, lighting it however
for small amounts of time still leaves you with a fresh room, the colour of the
candle is a bright red so would be a perfect addition to a little red themed
room or for a Christmas dinner table, that’s where mine will be.
Nan’s
Jewellery
Whilst moving in to our new house, I discovered
my Nan’s jewellery box, and inside was a tiny little silver elephant, I
continued to ask my Dad about the silver elephant, he told me that my Nan had
purchased it from a charity shop and she carried it with her everywhere she
went, it stayed in her purse and she had it up until she died. It had never
left her side and now it won’t leave mine, it stays on my window sill and
stands in front of a small photograph of my Nan and Granddad. I was one when my
Nan passed away so sadly, the items she left with us are all that I have left
of her, but I feel so blessed because sometimes, people’s memories are enough
to help your love for someone grow. My Nan was a phenomenal woman and she loved
her family well, if I could become half the woman she was and live with just as
much wit and clarity that she did, I’ll be a lucky lady. Along with the
Elephant, I discovered a gold necklace, the necklace is simply but means so
much, It has the letter ‘M’ attached to a gold chain and although her name was
Mary, My granddad had got it for her a few days after she welcomed their 3rd
Son into the world, Michael, who also happens to be my Dad. I leave the necklace in the jewellery box as
I know that it is something that can’t be replaced, I mean, fair enough you can
buy a necklace that has a letter on it, but it wouldn’t feel right. It wouldn’t
have come from my Granddad, it wouldn’t have been worn by my Grandma and it
wouldn’t have been in honour of the birth of my Dad. So, much like my Grandma,
and all the wonderful memories she left with us to treasure forever, she also
left some of the most incredible jewellery that can’t be replaced either. She
is irreplaceable, everything about her is, and that is how she will stay forever.
Long Phone
Calls
I love talking to my friends, whether it is
face to face or over the phone, or online. However, I have one friend who I
love to have a good chin wag with every now and then, what we talk about is a
good question because it’s a bit of everything, what we did with our weeks, how
we’re spending our day and mostly about recent soap antics, whether it be what is
happening in them and how good they are! But September in particular was the
month of long phone calls, we broke our record being on the phone to each other
quite a few times, I love being on the phone to her, I can’t see her very often
which means long phone calls are the answer. She makes me very happy, She is my
best friend and having her in my life is amazing, the only possible way of
describing it is simply like someone, somewhere wanted me to feel blessed, and
that is exactly how our friendship makes me feel. We could talk about potatoes
and the best usage out of them and we’d still end up laughing. I highly
recommend doing it when you have a friend who has unlimited minutes and you
both have days off.
Emmerdale
Friends
I have many friends in life, but not a lot, I
drifted from a lot of people and didn’t know what to do or how to feel,
however, when I began to watch a little soap, aired on the ITV channel
throughout the week, I began talking to many people and I began making friends
from all over the country. I find it funny that people say having friends
online is weird, because it isn’t always. The friends I’ve made through
watching Emmerdale are some of the best I think I ever will, they all have such
brilliant personalities and they all bring such light and positivity with them
wherever they go. It isn’t everyday you get the chance to have friends who
share the same interests that you do and are equally as passionate about them
as you are too. I count myself lucky everyday that I chose to surround myself
with the people that I have.
& on
that note, My September favourites are complete. There aren’t many, but I’m not
one for new things or change.
All the
love,
